The 1997 Viper RT/10 returned on the market after a short delay receiving all the changes that were made on the '96 Viper GTS. Those included the redesigned 450 hp engine and dual airbags. Also the power windows were added. More powerful engine gave an excellent driving experience but as a side effect price increased to $66000. The 1997 RT/10 cost the same as '97 GTS which was the main reason for the sharp decline in demand and just 117 roadsters were produced. This was the absolutely lowest annual number for the RT/10 during first and second generations. For the 1997MY white and black colors were retired while blue color was added, interior had an accents in body color.

Along with 1998 Viper GTS the '98 RT/10 gained the second-generation airbags, passenger airbag switch and lighter exhaust manifolds, saving 11 kg (24 pounds). From this year the hood updated to be same as GTS with NACA duct. The interior color accents were retired as well as blue exterior color which was replaced by new Viper Bright Silver. The only other color available was red. Pricing now stood at $64000 ($66500 for the GTS). A total of 379 roadsters were produced in 1998MY (341 units for U.S. market and 38 units for Canadian market). This number includes 6 pre-production units which will not be sold.

1999 Dodge Viper RT/10 (SR II) Producido en 549 copias

The 1999 Viper RT/10 came with new 18" five-spoke aluminum polished wheels with Viper logo center caps (formerly 17’’) and Michelin Pilot Sport tires, power mirrors, redesigned shifter knob and door handles. Besides the standard black leather interior an optional Connolly leather in Cognac was available. All thease updates were identical to '99 Viper GTS. The black color returned and Viper RT/10 again offered in three exterior colors. A total of 549 roadsters were produced in 1999MY (498 units for U.S. and 51 units for Canadian market).
